Olives growing on dry stony ground.
Views from the train on our way from Ronda to Granada.
Riccardo and I visited the Cathedral where Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand are buried; Well buried isn't quite the right word. they are in lead lined coffins in the crypt. Raised on ornately carved marble plinths, are marble carvings of them, above the crypt. The chapel was full of other fabulous and famous art work.
Time now to adjourn back to the Hotel to freshen up for our evening orientation walk with Jose.
Our group in one of the many squares in Granada.
Our first glimpse of the Alhambra as it came into view high above the city.
Following Jose we continued through winding streets, with a definite uphill feel to them to finally arrive at this view point from which to see the Alhambra.
We soaked in the view, and the other sights in this tourist viewpoint... gypsies selling jewellery, postcards, fans or trinkets, who appeared as soon as the police had gone; artesenal (homemade) ice creams in delectable flavours; the changing light and shadows of sunset approaching.
It doesn't set here until ten pm.
There is still snow on the mountains to the left, and the views into the back yards, lanes and alleys all added to the feeling of being in a very special place.
Tomorrow we visit inside the Alhambra.
